Description

Jamal uses percussion instruments to explore the music and rhythms of diverse cultures. He performs on a variety of exotic instruments, including some he makes by hand, like Egyptian flutes made from PVC pipe and drums made from clay. Jamal will acquaint the students with traditional rhythms and melodies from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America using instruments such as gongs from China, Talking Drums from Africa and various percussion from around the world. Jamal will also demonstrate how music can be made using common household objects. The presentation will culminate with students joining Jamal on stage for an exciting jam session with an international flavor. It’s an experience they will never forget.

  • join Jamal to play a variety of percussion instruments.
  • learn about music and instruments from cultures of the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America
