Description

The award-winning Le Theatre de Marionette performs the children’s classic “Snow White” at Geppetto's Marionette Theater, located inside the Hilton Anatole Hotel near downtown Dallas. This school-friendly adaptation delights and intrigues young audiences with its variety of familiar characters and adventures set to an engaging musical score and told with over fifteen one-of-a-kind, hand-made string puppets built locally in our workshop. After the show, students will have two unique educational experiences. While small groups take an up-close-and-personal backstage tour of the theater "magic", others will participate in a LIVE marionette demonstration on stage with our professional puppeteers. Students learn about the job of a puppeteer first-hand as student volunteers take turns performing a series of steps and actually make a marionette walk or fly, show emotions and seemingly "come to life"! Schools have the option of purchasing our Concession Combo of a small drink & popcorn, brown-bagging a lunch within our theater right after the show & tour, or picnicking in the private Anatole Park (weather & event permitting). As with our On-Campus programs, schools have the option of scheduling Jr. Geppetto's workshops in finger, hand, shadow or marionette puppetry for a one-of-a-kind fun and educational experience.

Students Will

  • hear a classic fairy tale
  • see professional marionette puppetry
  • learn about the jobs of a puppeteer, a designer and an artist
  • express themselves, clarify themes and big ideas, and respond to relevant questions
  • have a hands-on learning opportunity in which volunteers follow steps to make a marionette walk, fly and seemingly "come to life"
