Description

Why are some parts of Texas lush forests and other parts dry and dusty? What do animals have to help them survive in these different ecosystems? How do we depend on natural ecosystems? This multimedia program answers those questions and more as it takes students across our enormous state through Lucas Miller’s hilarious, science-based songs and dazzling footage. Illustrating important earth and life science concepts, your students will laugh, sing and groove while they learn about wetlands, food chains, desert adaptations and much more. Touring for over 25 years, this “singing zoologist makes science a blast and has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s finest school presenters. His YouTube videos (youtube.com/user/biorhythms) are played across the planet to help teachers put some life in the life sciences. This multimedia, musical bonanza covers a wealth of science TEKS, delighting teachers just as much as kids! Texas ecosystem: can be adapted for grades 1-5. It discusses the differing climates of Texas and how they produce different ecosystems such as forests, prairies, deserts and wetlands. Also covers adaptations and the altering of natural spaces by humans. Students Will

  • 1) Discover how the differences in rainfall across the state create dramatically different ecosystems.
  • 2) Be able to define an ecosystem as a community of living things and the non-living components of their environment
  • 3) Observe and give examples of adaptations that help an organism survive in various ways (e.g., protection, feeding, and/or to the conditions of an ecosystem)
  • 4) observe closeup videography of bluebonnets and understand their dependence on bees for pollination,

Dates: Monday - Friday
Times: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Duration: 45 minute show
School Fee: $1500/full-day (four, 45-50 minute shows), $1350 with three or more consecutive dates in the district. Two schools can share a date and split the cost 50/50. Note: Lucas has multiple programs for different ages and encourages you to book different progra

Deadline: 2 weeks before show date.
Cancellation Policy: Bookings may be cancelled up to two (2) calendar weeks before performance without penalty. Bookings cancelled within two (2) calendar weeks of performance but up to one (1) calendar week before performance may be rescheduled as artist's bookings allow. Bookings cancelled within one (1) calendar week of performance will require balanced paid in full and rescheduling is at artist's discretion.
