Description

Shake, Rattle & Roll: A Snake’s Tale ***The other animals do not understand the snake so he, his wife, and kids are bullied, ignored, and stepped on! (Does this sound familiar?) The snake dreams that he can bite and poison everyone who mistreats him, and his dream comes true, yet at what cost? Along the way, we get the 4-1-1 about snakes, and we take matters into our own hands. Students discuss similar bullying situations that affect them personally, and use their critical thinking skills to make informed, insightful decisions on how to manage the biting and poisoning…and bullying! They are able to imitate life experiences from school and community cultures through dramatic play. ***This beautiful, fun, whimsical tale promotes storytelling, language skills, diversity, emotional literacy, social intelligence, bullying prevention, forgiveness, friendship, empathy, creative thinking, and positive self-esteem!

Students Will

  • Identify what makes them different and how those differences make them special
  • Discuss the creation and causation of bullying
  • Explore bullying solutions through non-violent means
  • Develop strategies for taking care of themselves and being accountable to one another
  • Draw correlations between the snakes situation and their lives; thus, able to imitate life experiences from school and community cultures in dramatic play
  • React to and discuss dramatic activities
  • Develop characterization using sensory and emotional recall
