Description

Virtual programs allow students to focus on teacher-selected areas of interests, topics, TEKS connections, and a more personalized approach allowing students much more direct interaction with the chef instructors than our assembly programs. They consist of several programs spread out over a number of weeks and cover a variety of aspects of that topic. Chefsvilleā€™s asynchronous and hybrid programming with Zoom/Skype combines lessons, images, videos, cooking demonstrations, and equipment to explore the connections with math, science, language arts and social studies to cooking. These fun programs help students understand what it is like to work with food and connect the skills they learn in the classroom. Multicultural virtual programs are celebrations of diversity, specifically celebrating the art of cooking, which recognizes the strong importance of food in ethnic groups. This program is designed to share information and provide additional core academic activities that will allow increased student achievement while highlighting what students are learning in the classroom. Parents seeking to have shared educational experiences with their kids will benefit from this program. Chefsville also engages family and community by encouraging kids to learn about international foods. Learning about other cultures through their ingredients, equipment, cooking styles, and traditions will connect students with the world in a very unique way, and will show them that each nationality has a culture rich in art, music, dance, and food. Programs for this Residency will each focus on different cultures, going from a single program (although we strongly recommend a minimum of two back to back programs) up to 5 programs. We invite you to taste the world as it comes alive through food and to learn about the equipment, ingredients, colors, smells, textures, tastes, and preparation techniques used to create it. We let history come to life in this program as the students learn about international cuisines, and talk about how some of those international food styles made their way to America. Up to 52 students included in the price. Extra classes will be prorated. This is a great grade-level program. Hybrid/asynchronous program also available.

Students Will

  • prepare several international dishes
  • learn about different international pantries highlighting ingredients used
  • Q&A a chef who loves and studies international cuisines
  • sample several dishes
  • experience the smells, tastes and textures of some great national dishes
  • increase their desire to learn about the world
  • learn about great men and women who brought international foods to America
