Description

You Are Special is a fun program about self-discovery and self-empowerment. Everyone has gifts - qualities unlike those of anyone else. Students recognize and celebrate their own ‘specialness’ through interactive storytelling, music, dance, and singing. The show encourages each individual to focus on their own abilities and to also appreciate and work with the talents of others. This creates mutual respect for self and peers. A person who knows his ‘specialness’ carries himself with a sense of confidence, is not an easy target for bullying, and can work through challenging situations. During the show, students 1)connect and respond to sensory and emotional experiences 2)engage their cognitive problem-solving skills to identify challenges in their life and the choices they make 3)integrate life experiences in dramatic play. You Are Special helps participants explore how making good choices can improve their daily lives and lead to a great future!
