Food is a fantastic vehicle to provide an exciting learning adventure that will captivate students. In this program, students will discover the exciting world of cooking by applying their knowledge of scientific tools and concepts to cooking. The chef instructor will discuss the law of conservation of energy, physical and chemical reactions, matter, kitchen safety along with cooking techniques and traditions. Students will discover how energy in our food transforms. Convection, conduction, radiant heat, chemical, magnetic, solar, light, sound, and other forms of energy will be explored. Age-appropriate exercises and cooking demonstrations using scientific concepts will help students discover and make sense of their physical world. Chefsville’s energy program combines lessons, images, videos, cooking demonstrations, and equipment to explore the connections with math, science, language arts, and social studies to cooking. These fun programs help students understand what it is like to work with food and connect the skills they learn in the classroom.

  • Recognize different forms of energy and how they are appear around us every day; how the energy between molecules will make a substance a solid, liquid, or gas.
  • Analyze how chefs use different properties of energy in baking, discovering the freezing and boiling points of different substances.
