Description

CURTAINS UP ON READING RESIDENCY: A Multi-Sensory Unit of Study. A DCT Curtains Up Residency incorporates rhythm in a detailed study of America’s struggle for independence. Students explore the rhythm of travel across the Atlantic in search of new life in America. Experiencing different aspects of early Colonial life, students increase their knowledge about the Thirteen Colonies. Students might dramatically re-enact Paul Revere’s Ride, Boston Tea Party, or Bunker Hill. As they examine the origins of US government, students can also design their own classroom constitution. DCT has developed and perfected this residency for many years.

Students Will

  • Work with a professional theater artist to explore the world of the American colonies and actively learn curriculum through this innovative multi-sensory approach..
  • Take ownership of classroom lessons and be excited about learning while they act out stories and literature of the time of the early Colonies
