Description

How do artists create wonderful picture-book illustrations? Why do children love reading ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ over and over again? Students explore the relationship between story and illustration, words and pictures. They take a story - discuss character, emotions, attitudes, and behaviors – role-play the attributes, and transform those personality attributes into visual art. They have explored the story through discussion, dramatization, analysis, and illustration! The process sets thematic groundwork and strengthens comprehension. When students complete the process they have an evolved understanding of story creation.
