Standards

Description

Students will learn how to perform using masks from around the world. They will participate in theater games and learn basic elements for character construction. Students will create a character based the mask of choice, define what the character does, says, and what others say about them. They will also conduct research on cultural and theatrical masks from around the world. Scenes or a demonstration of developed characters will be presented at the end of the session.

Deadline: 2 weeks prior to start date
Cancellation Policy: All residencies and touring performances can be rescheduled with Cara Mía 1 week prior to class start date. However, in the case that a workshop or residency cannot be rescheduled, it can be canceled up to a week (seven days) before the agreed start date. After a week from the start date, Cara Mía requires half of the payment for the workshop or residency in the case of a cancellation. After the start date, Cara Mía requires full payment for the touring workshop or residency. Touring shows can be canceled a week (seven days) before performance. After a week before performance date, Cara Mía requires full payment for a cancellation. Field trip performances to Cara Mía shows are non-refundable regardless of circumstances such as bad weather, difficulty with transportation or scheduling difficulties.

Cara Mia instructors are not allowed to release children to parents. Please inform the Instructors of appropriate arrival and dismissal process. A class session will consist of a maximum of 25 students. A DISD staff member may be required to monitor behavior.
