Description
Using traditional book-building and paper crafts methods, students create and illustrate a box, then fill it with an assortment of fun, non-traditional books. Then they will explore ways to fill the pages of their books with art and writing based on curriculum subjects. This unique residency boosts creativity, builds strong writing skills, and helps students think outside AND inside the box. This hands-on project enhances students learning by providing opportunities for all types of learners in different ways: visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic.
Students Will
Create a variety of books in a box filled with stories to express their original idea
Learn the history of books and the innovations that influenced the evolution of the book
Build sequencing skills
Express ideas through original stories and artworks
Create illustrations for their books that are based on personal observations and experiences
Integrate a variety of ideas about self, life events, family, and community in original stories and artworks.
