Description

Students explore movement quality and spatial awareness * they problem solve as they role-play and sequence stories * a musical rhythm encourages focus, active listening and creative interpretation. And each experience is anchored with a story. We take every lesson to the page, by incorporating story into each creative learning experience. It is a natural way to cultivate the love of books and encourage life-long reading. We utilize various modalities; including exploratory movement, storytelling, dramatics, yoga and music. The artist develops programming that supports cognitive, language, physical and social skills. Teacher and artist work together, guiding students through dynamic learning experiences, that while child-centered, also strengthen teacher competencies in arts and curriculum integration. Reading is only the beginning!

Students Will

  • Cultivate the ability to self manage physical movements as they improve gross and fine motor skills
  • Experience books through role-play, discussion and analysis
  • Share time, space and objects with others
  • Exhibit increased concentration and focus, and the ability to share thoughts and ideas with increased competency
  • Connect the meaning of a well-known story or fable to personal experiences
  • Use patterns to predict what comes next, including cause-and-effect relationships.
  • Use the five senses to explore different forms of energy such as light, heat, and sound
