Description

TAO artists create songs with students’ birthdays. Melodies and songs are created from the students’ birth dates by turning them into musical notation, associating music and math. Addition, subtraction, multiplication and complex multiplication, proper and improper fractions- all mathematical formats are used to create original music ALL based on the students’ birth dates! Students will sing ideas to help create the melodic patterns. When the song is finished, the entire group sings along to give their interpretation of the created song. To build math/music association, lower elementary students are taught to sing notes with the math sentences to help them remember the answers. For lower elementary, they will clap hands as a group to create patterns to build a rhythmic song. For upper grades, students are hand-picked to create rhythms from our award-winning RHYTHM CLOCK manipulative tool, which allows music notation to be associated with fractions, decimals and percentages.
