Description

Jenna, a modern girl of the Muscogee Creek nation, longs to be a part of her family's tradition as a "Jingle Dancer". She explores her native heritage in many aspects through story and movement. Participants will see how Jenna exercises kindness, consideration, and resourcefulness in fulfilling her dream of dancing in the powpow for the first time. Students will then write their own stories and make their own jingle bracelets!

Students Will

  • explore story-telling, including story telling by dance and writing
  • examine some aspects of Native American tradition
  • watch a character fulfill her dream with kindness, consideration, and resourcefulness
  • write their own short story
  • create musical bracelets

Instructions: To schedule this program, or for more information, call The Writer's Garret at (214) 828-1715 or email [email protected] Residencies of 10 sessions or more result in a printed anthology of students' work and the opportunity for students to show off newly developed skills in a public reading to friends and family.
Deadline: Two Weeks Notice
Cancellation Policy: A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to cancel a scheduled date. If 48-hour notice is given, we will reschedule the date, based upon the availability of the Instructor. If 48-hour notice is not given, we will bill for the date scheduled and not reschedule the date.
After School Policy: At least one school representative/teacher must be present in the classroom at all times. 25 students maximum per class. Minor adjustments can be negotiated.
