Description
When she was just a girl, Wilma had a crippling disease that left one of her legs paralyzed. She was told she would never walk again. But she was determined to run! And run she did - all the way to three gold metals in the Olympics! Wilma is an inspiration for many. Participants will write biographies in third person as if they are looking at great feats already accomplished, and create 'gold' metals to go along with their own unique successes! (Beginning writers and pre-writers may illustrate their stories and share orally with the group. This is a great way to experience the joys of story-telling!)
Students Will
Write fictional stories of their own future victory and triumph
Remain open to the possibilities in life, despite all obstacles
Listen to the dreamed accomplishments of others and awarding medals
Learn a true story of historical figure Wilma Rudolph
Create unique medals in their desired area of success
