Description

Anne was a girl much like you, with dreams and fears, spending her time going to school, playing and making friends. At 12 years old, she began writing her thoughts in her diary, and from 13-15 she continued writing in hiding. Hear Anne's story in picture book form and discuss how her diary is one reminder of how each of us is an individual desiring and deserving to be treated justly and given the opportunity to live their life. Then everyone can make handmade diaries of their own, so you can all tell your story.

Students Will

  • Discuss the book
  • Explore how the participants feel knowing the story of an individual in the Holocaust
  • Examine the closing words 'her story was just beginning'
  • Create diaries
  • Begin personal writing
