Description

CURTAINS UP ON READING RESIDENCY: A Multi-Sensory Unit of Study. A Curtains Up DCT artist transports students back to the age of the Samurai, a time when honor, respect and beauty defined Japanese culture. Through color and texture, students explore Japanese geography, customs, and religion. Folktales, art, and theater from the period introduce the students to the feudal society of medieval Japan. Students will have the opportunity to act out a Japanese story from the literature of the rich culture. DCT has developed and perfected this creative curriculum and unique teaching style over several years.

Students Will

  • Work with a professional theater artist to explore the world of Feudal Japan.
  • Actively learn curriculum through this innovative multi-sensory approach while acting out stories and literature of ancient Japan.
  • The Boy Who Drew Cats by Arthur A. Levine ISBN # 0-8037-1172-7
