Description

Students will be given an interactive tour of our Native American cultural exhibit (as may be specified at time of tour booking) by a trained Docent, who will address specific TEKS of the social studies curriculum, using questioning techniques. The exhibit focuses on the Great Plains Indians (the Lakota Sioux) but also has artifacts representing Native Texas groups, the Pueblo Indians, the Cherokee and Navajo. In addition we have a cross cultural exhibit on drums and weapons, and the Languages of Mexico- an exhibit on Mexican culture, which is often an interesting comparison to the Native North Americans. A detailed exhibit of Texas Indians has been added. A minature Lakota Sioux tipi is ddisplayed in the exhibit In addition, the students will also visit the other Cultural Galleries in the Museum
