Description

We are connected by our shared needs all over the planet. Everything we have is because of agriculture; including food, clothing, shelter, and technology. Everything is either mined from the earth or grown from the soil. From the time we wake to the time we sleep and even as we sleep, new resources are constantly being produced for our benefit. Participants stretch their mental muscles in broad-themed discussions such as the historical relevance and cultural practices of agriculture around the world. Most important, they are encouraged to read, research, listen and express their views as they develop a sense of responsibility and community. Per Student $3 fee, covers take-home live plants, soil and seeds. Programming provided by a Dallas County Certified Master Gardener. Also, see WE ARE THE EARTH * Residency

Students Will

  • ● Research and discuss - utilizing their listening and speaking skills, the different Agricultural techniques used around the world and using logical reasoning to conclude how use of those techniques affect our food and environment.
  • ● Focus on solutions that their generation can implement now to reverse the imbalance of the Earth as they grow.
  • ● Identify value added products created by combining or processing a simple agricultural product.
