Description
Trinity River Dixie Kings: Sounds of New Orleans Explore the great musical traditions of our early years when Dixieland music was the pride of our country. Dixieland jazz musical roots started in the early 1900's with a great sound with plenty of rhythm and sycapation that had folks dancing the jitterbug. This music style started with a upright piano and progressed to small ensembles traveling from city to city. Some dixieland jazz tunes that we are familiar with today include: "When the Saints go Marching In" and "Basin Street Blues" . No one can visit New Orleans without hearing the classic sound of dixieland jazz.
Students Will
Listen to different styles of music and learn how the rhythm, tempo and sounds affect the feel of the music
Students will play on plastic horns to a fun song and learn how buzz their lips whic in turn produces the sound. They will also figure out teamwork and how musicians know can speak the same language
