Description

This self guided tour will allow students to walk thru history as they view the featured murals, statues, architecture, and photographs throughout the building. The murals, statues and art of the building not only depict historical events in Texas history, but are prime examples of the beginning of the modern art era. The style of painting shows a transition from classical to futurism, neoclassical and constructiveness which we now identify as 1930s art deco designs.

Students Will

  • Describe the influences of other cultures on Texas.
  • Learn basic facts about the founding of Texas and the historical figures involved.
  • Identify and interpret major Texas symbols.
  • Identify major economic resources of Texas regions.
  • Book: Texas History (State Studies: Texas); By: Mary Dodson Wade; ISBN-10: 1432911589
  • Learn about the countries that ruled Texas prior to the Texas' independence and joining the USA.
  • Delve into neoclassical and art deco paintings as well as examples of fine art sculptures.
