Standards

Description

In this fun acting residency, students will develop confidence, creativity and communication skills. Students develop these skills through interactive theatre games and warm-ups. They also will utilize improvisation and scene work to develop their creativity and acting skills. Students will work collaboratively with short scripted scenes and will learn how to develop a character. Students will participate in a final performance of their scene work. Acting Up! meets Fine Arts TEKS. Additional classes are available for purchase as is a one-class workshop of the same style. Students Will

  • Participate in theatre games and warm ups.
  • Read and perform short scenes
  • Use improvisation to tell stories
  • Use voice and body safely to convey story
  • Use sensory and emotional recall
  • Work collaboratively with others in scenes and perform than at the end of the residency
  • Develop artistic abilities and skills

Details

Dates: Monday Through Saturday and or Sunday
Times: 8am-6pm
Duration: 6 1 hour classes
School Fee: $100 per hour long class and $15 per additional student
Minimum Attendance: 10
Maximum Attendance: 25
Bilingual: No
Technical Needs: Open Space. Space for final performance.

Scheduling / Booking

Deadline: 2 weeks before start date.
Cancellation Policy: All residencies and touring performances can be rescheduled with Cara Mía 1 week prior to class start date. However, in the case that a workshop or residency cannot be rescheduled, it can be canceled up to a week (seven days) before the agreed start date. After a week from the start date, Cara Mía requires half of the payment for the workshop or residency in the case of a cancellation. After the start date, Cara Mía requires full payment for the touring workshop or residency. Touring shows can be canceled a week (seven days) before performance. After a week before performance date, Cara Mía requires full payment for a cancellation. Field trip performances to Cara Mía shows are non-refundable regardless of circumstances such as bad weather, difficulty with transportation or scheduling difficulties.

Cara Mia instructors are not allowed to release children to parents. Please inform the Instructors of appropriate arrival and dismissal process. A class session will consist of a maximum of 25 students. A DISD staff member may be required to monitor behavior.
