Description

Play with Your Food! Have Fun * Experiment! What is the story of your pantry? * Create your own recipes! * Understand your grocery store * Read that label * Know your budget * Connect how your body/mind responds or reacts to the food choices you make * Use problem-solving and decision-making processes to identify a problem, gather information, consider options, consider advantages and disadvantages, choose and implement a solution, and evaluate the effectiveness of the solution. Synthesize information to create new understanding, because your mood, your energy level, your ability to handle stress, your ability to think and concentrate are all directly affected by what you eat * You have the power to choose! What shall you do with that power? * Play with Your Food - Be Happy - Be Healthy!!!

Students Will

  • Draw inferences and evaluate accuracy of product claims found in advertisements and labels such as for toys and food
  • Describe, plan, and implement simple experimental investigations testing one variable
  • Demonstrate that repeated investigations may increase the reliability of results
  • Understand the meaning of in-season shopping and the effect on flavor and budget
  • Practice reading labels and Create new recipes with fun, tasty, healthy ingredients
  • Operate with greater awareness of the nutrition-body/mind connection
  • Express ideas orally based on research and experiences

Dates: Available
Times: 8:00a - 3:00p
Duration: 50 minutes each session
School Fee: $325 for two same day back-to-back 50 minute sessions. Additional same day sessions $150 each
Minimum Attendance: 8
Maximum Attendance: 30
Bilingual: No
Technical Needs: Large tables for food prep, chairs, sanitized hands
Other Information: Book two back-to-back sessions with up to 30 max per group or one 60 person max session.

All Animal Encounter pre-recorded Asynchronous programming links will be available for three consecutive school days. Other links vary from 2-3 days. Ask about weekend bookings.

Cancellation Policy: A program is confirmed when you receive your contract. Should inclement weather or other unforeseen emergency circumstances prevent the program from taking place as scheduled, we will offer the option of rescheduling. All cancellations are subject to full payment. With the exception of unforeseen circumstances, changing the date of a specific session can be made with two weeks' notice and is subject to the availability of the artist.
After School Policy: A teacher or afterschool employee must be with the students at all times to assist with classroom management. They are also responsible for supervising the students before and after class, walking students to the bus or releasing students to their parents.
