Description

The Body Freedom workshop encourages students to explore how emotions are shown and felt in their bodies. This program focuses on the psychotherapeutic use of movement to boost self-confidence, promote teamwork, and problem-solving. Students will learn how to use choreographed dance to develop concepts about self, human relationships, and the environment using elements of drama and theatre. Led by master teaching artists students will 1) consider how they communicate both verbally and nonverbally by connecting and responding to sensory and emotional experiences, 2) create playing space using expressive and rhythmic movement, and 3) identify challenging situations through exploratory discovery.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation Policy: 1. Confirmation: A program is considered confirmed upon the receipt of a contract via mail, fax, or email. 2. Rescheduling or Substitute Artist: In the event of illness, inclement weather, or unforeseen circumstances that prevent the program from taking place as scheduled, Bishop Arts Theatre Center will provide the following options: Rescheduling the program. Utilizing a substitute artist, subject to artist availability. Changes to program dates require a written agreement between Bishop Arts Theatre Center personnel and the school or site contact at least one week before the original workshop or program start date. 3. Cancellation by Educational Organizations: Cancellation of a program by an educational organization, educational institute, or community presenter after confirmation is subject to full payment. 4. Notification of Cancellation: To cancel a program, please notify the Director of Education: 24 hours prior to the program start time via email at [email protected] or by phone at 214-948-0716. Same-day cancellations will incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the original programming fee. Cancellation due to testing must be communicated 72 hours in advance via email to [email protected]. Failure to notify Bishop Arts Theatre of a cancellation due to testing, the educational organization, educational institute, or community presenter will result in a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the original programming fee. 5. Payment for Unnotified Cancellations: Failure to notify Bishop Arts Theatre of any cancellation will result in full payment of programming fees if not submitted within 72 hours after the original cancellation date.: 6. Emergency Cancellations: In case of an emergency requiring the cancellation of a program on the scheduled day, please contact the Director of Education at 214-948-0716 immediately.
After School Policy: After School Policy: 1. Supervision Requirements: An on-site teacher or site coordinator must be present at all times during the workshop. Bishop Arts Theatre Center Teaching Artists are required to arrive at least 15 minutes before the class begins. 2. Attendance Record: On the first day of the program, the Teaching Artist must complete an attendance form with the following details: Complete the names of all participants. Ethnic and gender information of participants. The signature of the site coordinator or site teacher contact. 3. Confirmation of Class Completion: After each class session, the site teacher or contact must initial the sign-in sheet to confirm the fulfillment of the class date. 4. Student Safety at Dismissal: An on-site teacher or site coordinator must be available immediately after the class ends to: Escort students when leaving school grounds. Supervise students waiting for parents/guardians to arrive. Monitor students waiting to enter a school bus. Bishop Arts Theatre Center Teaching Artists are not responsible for students after the workshop. 5. Substitute Teaching Artists: In case a Teaching Artist is unable to provide services due to illness or personal issues, Bishop Arts Theatre Center will arrange for a substitute for the day's programming. If a substitute is unavailable, the organization will receive notification at least 12-24 hours in advance, and the educational organization or institute will not be responsible for program fees. 6. Late Arrival Policy: If a Teaching Artist is late for more than half of the scheduled time associated with the programming, the educational organization or institute will only be responsible for 50% of the programming fee for that day. Programs that are billed by session and not by the hour will be prorated for that day's tardiness.
