Description

This amazing curriculum and exercise involves individual artistic "painting with a twist" mentoring-styled session, teaching authenticity, individuality, self esteem, leadership and character through creative expression! Acrylic paints/brushes, 8X10 canvases (smocks if available) are required. Essential Questions (discussed during the class as we paint) 1. What does it mean to have self- confidence or self esteem? 2. What is “authenticity” and why is being authentic important? 3. Is comparing ourselves to others healthy or unhealthy? 4. Why is individualism important in a society obsessed with images? 5. Why is it important to be proud of yourself or your heritage (because it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish)? Students will creatively paint an image of a crown of royalty (representing their personality, heritage or personal interests). Supplies: Using an 8x10 canvas, acrylic paint paint brushes and a cup of water. With the advent of social media and the obsession society has with pop culture, it’s become increasingly more difficult for children to appreciate their own uniqueness and individual qualities as they seek to fit in, instead of seeking to stand out!

Students Will

  • Have a brief discussion with Instructor concerning self confidence, self esteem and individuality
  • The crown is representative of their personal uniqueness, culture or personal interests
  • Creatively paint an image of a crown of royalty (representing their personality, heritage or personal interests
  • Supplies will be provided before event
