Description

Students will make(2 to 4) different clay "characters" (animals, food items, imaginary creature, etc.) to choose from each class. I will walk them through forming these clay objects showing them how to get the shape they desire. Every class, several clay creatures, food items, etc. will be selected. I will guide the students as they call upon me for further assistance. If they need assistance, the child/teacher can raise a hand or "chat" me a question and I will respond real time. I enjoy the interaction from the students during the class. I am very interactive in my classes. We will be brief in our greeting initially and name tags will be asked to be worn on screen. I would like to spend 2 to 3 minutes on instructions, 30 to 40 minutes on "create time" and 10 minutes to show and tell or ask questions. Topics to be covered will be - creative expression, examining our collective artwork creating fun characters, charms or imaginary creatures and food items with air dry clay. Supplies will be provided: Super Light Air Dry Clay (Clay is colored so it doesn't need to be painted) I will also provide a few plastic tools (scalpel, spatula etc.) which can be found with modeling clay or polymer clay crafts. A plastic or silicon mat or some smooth, washable surface for them to work on would be helpful as well.

Students Will

  • Students will learn how to express themselves creatively through manipulating colorful clay as a sensory activity.
  • Color theory can also be taught as well and how to mix different colors to create a specific color they desire.
  • We'll discuss "decision making" and "problem solving" when using our creativity in making personal preferences or correcting a problem.
  • Self expression and exploration
  • Iteration and imagination are encouraged
