Description

Enamel painting on glass is an ancient method of transferring images onto glass for detail that cannot be achieved by cut glass alone. This method was used to create pictograms on glass in the Middle Ages and is still a widely used technique today. Students will follow instructions, use eye/hand coordination, and have a project to take home or display in an art show. Students start with a paper image, collage, or original drawing, and transfer it onto glass using student- safe enamel paints. Topics discussed include techniques of the old masters, various painting techniques, and original design. This program can also be used in conjunction with Laura's stained glass workshop for a more in-depth experience.

Students Will

  • Look at images where glass painting has been used in traditional stained glass
  • Learn basic painting methods of shading, contour, and color
  • Use techniques of old masters
  • Use professional materials
  • Finish with projects to take home or display at school
