Description

Join Dana for interactive storytelling! Listen as Dana tells a 15-20 minute story using character voices, sound effects and mime to bring the story to life. Then any and all students who wish to retell the story will act it out under Dana's guidance, bringing the individual characters to life. Core curriculum tie-ins available upon request for each story. All stories contain basic elements of dramatization and theatre. Pre-K through 4th grade. Story Dramas Available: 1.”Olmo and the Blue Butterfly” (Interactive paint-bucket theatre experience- Great for Pre-K and Kindergarten) Join Olmo on his quest as he uses various modes of transportation to catch up to the blue butterfly. 2."The Lion, the Mouse and the Hunters" (Story Drama great for Pre-K thru 2nd grade) How can a lion and a mouse play a trick together to send the hunters away for good? This story uses music, mime and drama in the retelling. 3."The Junk Eating Dragon" (Story Drama good for K-4th grades) Students will enjoy the story of Bangalee as he and his sisters and brothers protect their castle from Grunk, the dragon, by cleaning themselves and their home from top to bottom. Students will work together to form the huge body of Grunk and stomp through the kingdom breathing "fire" and eating junk, or they can be a part of the Bangalee’s clan and make everything spic and span before the dragon gets to their castle. 4."The Dancing Princesses" (Story Drama good for 1st-4th grades) Sneak out of the castle right past the guards in this story drama about obedience in the castle lifestyle. 5."The Musicians of Brementown" (Story Drama good for Kinder-2nd grade) Join the Rooster, mice, dogs and cats as they journey to Brementown to become musicians and catch some thieves in the process! Music and characterization highlight this story. 6.”Mrs. Goose and the Thing in the Closet” (Story drama good for Pre-K thru 1st grade). Sometimes things aren’t what they seem to be. Help Mrs. Goose and her neighbors vanquish the monster in Mrs. Goose’s closet! 7. Mime workshop (Good for all ages): Dana performs a basic mime sketch that includes distinct characters. After the presentation, Dana breaks down the techniques and character choices she made to create her characters and then encourages the students creativity as they add their own touches to the characters and re-create the story themselves. All students will learn basic mime techniques in this workshop.

Dates: Monday thru Saturday
Times: 8AM-5PM
Duration: Minimum booking of three one-hour sessions, may book up to six sessions.
School Fee: $300.00 minimum, $100.00 for each additional session (maximum three more sessions).

Instructions: To schedule, contact Dana at 214-460-0063 or [email protected]. Available all mornings, Monday - Saturday. Available afternoons from 4:30-6PM Monday - Saturday
Deadline: Two weeks in advance.
Cancellation Policy: A program is confirmed when you confirm your booking via phone, mail, fax, or email. Should illness, inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances prevent the program from taking place as scheduled, Dana Proulx-Willis will offer the option of rescheduling. Programs canceled by a school or community presenter after confirmation are subject to full payment. A $25 rescheduling fee will be charged if a schedule change is requested after a program has been confirmed.
After School Policy: A teacher or after school employee must remain with class at all times.
