Description

A Telly Award-winning puppeteer, Kent brings a touchable collection of puppets into the classroom for a unique, hands-on experience during which students explore a variety of puppetry styles including finger, hand, hand and mouth, rod, and string marionettes. Ensuring that every student gets a chance to try their hands, Kent guides young puppeteers through a single hour workshop in manipulation basics, taking volunteers to improvise simple character scenes, and ends the workshop in a puppet parade of walking marionettes. As an option, a residency program allows students to create a one-of-a-kind marionette puppet, learning to manipulate them for a performance and then take them home. Such make-and-take workshops range from the simple and cost-effective cereal box fliers (bats, butterflies, angels, dragon, birds) to the durable woody walkers (2-legged birds). Either workshop is available in conjunction with one of Le Theatre de Marionette's productions as a classroom follow-up experience.
