Description

This workshop is a fun way to make handicrafts from yarn, embroidery thread, lanyard thread, beads, and finishing hooks. Working with thread increases hand/eye coordination, persistence, and the ability to follow instructions, crafting work can be taught with different grade levels at the same time. The program starts out with basic knotted style friendship bracelets and moves to harder projects to make more intricate designs. Instruction in the various styles depends on the amount of time available and pace of the students in the classroom. All work is started in class with instruction and students can take home projects to finish. This program is very flexible with time and attendance. New students can attend after the first class has started.

Students Will

  • choose thread and yarn to make their project
  • get instruction on how to make various designs and how to place embellishments
  • watch demonstrations in class and work on their own projects
  • produce a craft to take home; materials included
