Description
Paper flowers are a folk art that have traditionally been made and used to decorate churches, altars, tombs, and celebrations such as weddings, quinceaneras, and Day of the Dead festivities all throughout Mexico. The class will start with a brief history of the art form and its cultural significance and move to students having a hands-on experience making flowers with colored tissue paper. Class starts out making a basic flower, then moves more advanced flower making by adding cutting techniques, details, and more layering. Students have the option of making one flower or several to make a bouquet to take home. This class is very flexible with time and attendendance. New students can attend after the first class or hour has started.
