Description
This class is set up to be a programming option for Mosaics with Laura Strother, in all age groups. If a group would like to add a few additional days or hours beyond the five days allotted in the original program, the program extension tool can be added to customize for specific needs such as: extra work time, installation of project, or presentation/ special event. If more than three additional visits are required, campus will need to purchase the Mosaics with Laura Strother program a second time to account for additional materials. The Program Extension is meant to help customize individual campuses experiences with additional instructional days as needed, through a la carte billing.

Students Will
  • LITERACY CONNECTION: Piece by Piece!: Mosaics of the Ancient World, by Michael Avi-Yonah, ISBN: 978-0822532040
  • use professional materials and tools.
  • design, cut, and place tiles using traditional methods.
  • grout and clean all artwork for display.
  • research and learn history of mosacis.
  • manage materials, tools, and clean-up.

Dates: Available Fall 2019 and Spring/ Summer 2020, Mon-Fri
Times: In-school: 8am-3:00pm, afterschool: 3:30-6pm
Duration: 2 hours or one workday
School Fee: $100 for two additional hours or one workday
Minimum Attendance: 6
Maximum Attendance: 30
Bilingual: No
Technical Needs: Classroom must have good workspace and either have a sink or be adjacent to a bathroom.

Deadline: flexible
Cancellation Policy: A Program is considered booked after an email confirmation is received from Laura Strother. Any cancellation must be made two weeks prior to start date or risk paying the full fee of the class. Laura will work with you to reschedule dates based on her availability. Please check your desired dates with the district's master calendar for any possible conflicts or testing dates that might interfere with your program.
After School Policy: A teacher or school representative must remain in the classroom during afterschool program at all times to enforce attendance and/or school policies. Laura Strother is not responsible for signing students out, attendance, or discipline of any kind. Students who fail to show up for one or several dates, run the risk of not completing a project and may not have finished artwork to take home.
