Description

Self-management is our ability to manage our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively. Using our self-management skills helps us be productive and reach our goals. It also helps us get along with others in our community. Students will learn about self-management tools and apply them to the fictional story of a boy who experiences frustration, anger, and nervousness while trying to complete a writing assignment at school. Students will then write a short story describing how they can use self-management tools to respond to a fictional emotional situation.

Students Will

  • Listen to a reading of Ralph Tells a Story by Abby Hanlon
  • Discuss self-management skills and how the main character uses them
  • Use a concept map to describe and apply self-management tools to real and imagined situations
  • Write a short story describing they would use self-management tools to respond to a fictional emotional situation
  • Share their stories with other students
