Description

AGO!(yoruba language) ATTENTION! With this 5 or 10 day residency knowledge, meaning, history, and the significance of the Griot/Storyteller will be told as participants become characters,musicians,dancers,and visual artists to have their own theater performance.

Students Will

  • gain an understanding of what is a griot/storyteller.
  • listen and learn the story to decide on characters.
  • be introduced to musical instruments used as sounds in the story
  • act out the story as it is being told.
  • make arts and crafts which reflect the story.
  • pick costumes and perform for the school/community.

Dates: Sept. 2012-Aug. 2013
Times: 8am - 3pm
Duration: 45 mins. - 1 hour per day
School Fee: $150 for first hour long session. $125 for each following hour/per session.Total amount determined by number of days included in the residency.
Minimum Attendance: 22
Maximum Attendance: 30
Bilingual: Yes
Technical Needs: Stage with a microphone or a spacious room for practice. Stage/mics for final performance
Other Information: Available various days for After-school programs

Deadline: 2 week advance notice
Cancellation Policy: Should illness, inclement weather or other unforseen circumstances take place Melody offers the option of rescheduling. Full payment required if program is canceled on the day of program.
After School Policy: A teacher/employee must remain with class at all times. Preferable if teacher participates in the program.
