Description

Chinese New Year celebrates the beginning of a new year as well as the resiliency of our ancestors. In this workshop, students will hear the legend of Nian the dragon and learn about the traditions associated with this holiday.

Students Will

  • Listen to the reading of Nian The Chinese New Year Dragon by Virginia Loh-Hagan
  • Discuss the meaning and traditions of Chinese New Year
  • Write good luck wishes for their classmates and place them in red envelopes

Residencies of 10 sessions or more result in a printed anthology of students' work and the opportunity for students to show off newly developed skills in a public reading to friends and family.
Deadline: Two weeks notice is preferred
Cancellation Policy: A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to cancel a scheduled date. If 48-hour notice is given, we will reschedule the date, based upon the availability of the Instructor. If 48-hour notice is not given, we will bill for the date scheduled and not reschedule the date.
After School Policy: At least one school representative/teacher must be present in the classroom at all times. 25 students maximum per class. Minor adjustments can be negotiated.
